Lani is our fit model — and she's been at the center of every design decision we make. Unlike the industry-standard sample size, she represents a real, wearable body. When we drape, cut, and refine, we're designing to real proportions. That means every silhouette you see has been considered on a form that reflects how clothes actually live on a person, not an idealized one. Lani sets our standard.

Before any fabric makes it into a design, it has to pass four tests. We check the stretch to see how far it gives and how well it moves with the body. We test the feel, the way it sits against skin, its weight, and its softness. We test to identify exactly what the fabric is made of, because what's on a label isn't always the full story. And we test for shrinkage, so what you receive fits the same way after every wash. All four. Every time.

A piece isn't finished when it looks good on the form, it has to be worn. Through a full day, through real movement, through everything a day might asks of you. We test how garments sit after hours of wear, whether seams stay put, whether the fit holds its shape or starts to shift. If it doesn't feel as good at the end of the day as it did at the start, it goes back. That's our standard.

Nothing at Allison Izu happens by accident. Every piece moves through a deliberate process. From the initial concept and fabric sourcing, through fit testing on Lani, through wear testing in real conditions. We ask a lot of questions before anything goes into production: Does this fabric earn its place? Does this silhouette flatter without forcing? Does this hold up over time? Every step is intentional. That's not extra — that's the work.
