Happy International Womens Month!

This year's theme for International Womens month is INSPIRE INCLUSION - “When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.” And we totally agree . . . (​​https://www.internationalwomensday.com/)

When I think about why these “honorary months” are created - it makes me so grateful for the women who’ve paved the way. I think there’s a lot that can be said about women’s rights, the inequality we faced and still face today. The fact that we have a month dedicated to celebrating our accomplishments is a sign that we aren’t celebrated enough in our day to day. 

So as we head into March, I hope we celebrate our achievements, raise awareness about ALL discrimination, and create the inclusion humanity needs. I’d like to use this month as a reminder to celebrate our accomplishments every time they happen. Not just once a year. 

At Allison Izu, we’re fortunate to be supported by a team of all women. It’s not that a man could never work here, but as we build our team, we focus on candidates who want to champion this brand and already live out our 4 pillars in their own lives.  And as a mom, business owner, and designer, I feel a responsibility to create a different norm for women. I want to design for people who’ve felt outside, felt unseen, and under-celebrated. To create a space where we feel supported and so we can go out in the world and empower someone else. Because I truly believe when we feel good, we do good.

So let’s use March as the launching point to celebrate women and celebrate you! I’d love to hear your stories and accomplishments and hope you’ll share them with us. That’s how we want to celebrate and live out our 4 pillars - to empower, to connect, to accept and to live vibrantly. That’s what I want for myself, for you and for my children.
