A New Year, A New Way of Styling
THE JANUARY EDIT
by Kimi, Style Consultant
One of my New Year's resolutions is to spend less time getting ready in the morning. And here's why: there's nothing worse than standing in front of your closet feeling like you have nothing to wear. As the clock ticks down, the pressure builds. Whether you're rushing to work or meeting friends for lunch, the frustration of mismatched pieces or wondering, "Does this really go together?" is a feeling we all know too well.
But what if I told you it doesn't have to be that way?
That's the beauty of our styles–our pieces are designed to mix and match effortlessly. Most colors coordinate seamlessly, and once you find your go-to outfits, it's easy to look and feel great without the morning stress.
If I were starting over with my wardrobe, I'd begin with these eight foundational pieces. You may already have some of these (or something similar!) in your closet–so you don't have to start from scratch. Instead, focus on understanding what you have and adding thoughtfully to your collection.
Your base layer sets the tone for your outfit. My go-to choices are:
The Emi Top: This is our take on the classic tee. Its shorter hem is perfect for petite women, eliminating that frustrating bunching of fabric around your hips. It’s clean, simple, and fits just right.
The Becca Top: If you prefer a V-neck or need a little extra coverage, the Becca is perfect. It’s designed to pull away from the body for a flattering, feminine fit that’s as comfortable as it is chic.
Whether you choose Emi, Becca, or both, these are versatile staples that make getting dressed effortless.
STEP 2: Add a versatile second layer (or two)
For your second top, versatility is key.
The Bobbi Top: This chic button-up is a wardrobe MVP, featuring short-girl-friendly details like elastic cuffs (no more awkward sleeve rolling!). Wear it buttoned up for a polished, office-ready look, or layer it over your base tee for a more relaxed vibe.
The Gabby Sweatshirt: If button-ups aren’t your thing, the Gabby is an excellent choice. Our elevated take on an oversized sweatshirt, it’s perfect for travel or those cozy, laid-back days. Plus, it pairs beautifully with the Bobbi for a preppy layered look.
STEP 3: Top it off with functional layers
Layers aren’t just practical—they pull your whole outfit together.
The Remy Cover-Up: This lightweight layer is effortlessly chic. Toss it on over any outfit to instantly dress it up. Whether you’re heading to the office or catching a flight, the Remy adds just the right touch of sophistication.
The Rachel Coat: When it comes to outerwear, the Rachel Coat is a must-have. Its 3/4 sleeve design and longer hem provide the perfect balance of coverage and style.
If you need something for the office, the Diana Blazer is a fantastic option. Designed with comfort and movement in mind, it’s proof that you can look professional and feel good at the same time.
STEP 4: Find your perfect pants
Now let’s talk about pants. This is where you have to decide: are you a wide-leg pant person or a slim-fit pant kind of person? You may have a preference that comes straight to mind, or you might be thinking that you like both- I recommend that you experiment and keep an open mind!
Wide-Leg Pants: If you love a dramatic, flowy silhouette, wide-leg pants are your go-to. Styles like the Milo Pant offer a flattering fit that elongates your legs and pairs perfectly with tucked-in tops or cropped layers. They’re versatile enough to dress up for work or keep casual for brunch with friends.
Slim-Fit Pants: If you prefer a sleek, streamlined look, slim-fit pants like the Miki Pant are ideal. These hug your shape in all the right places and work effortlessly with both fitted and flowy tops. They’re a wardrobe staple for everything from the office to date night.
